The placement test takes into consideration your Italian language skills. After completion of your language course, we provide you with further information about possibilities to deepen your acquired language skills-also for work related purposes.

The following grammatical points should guide you in making the correct course selection.
Level 1 Beginners without previous knowledge of Italian
Grammar: Alphabet, articles, nouns, adjectives, personal pronouns, basic numbers, simple negations (negatives), questions and the important question pronouns, simple present of regular and a selection of irregular verbs- “avere and essere” in the present tense. Also typical structures like c’e´- ci sono, mi piace- no mi piace. Present forms of modal and reflexive verbs and introduction of passato prossimo, the perfect tense.

Level 2 Beginners with previous knowledge of Italian
or completion of level 1
Grammar: reinforces and solidifies the main grammatical points of level 1. Object pronouns, adverbs,prepositions, possessives, comparatives, use of modal verbs perfect tense, irregular and reflexive verbs, imperatives, si-form, progressive form, and the introduction of the imperfect tense.

Level 3 Beginners with a solid basic knowledge of Italian
or having completed level 2
Grammar: A deepening of the grammar points from level 2, as well as indirect and pronoun combinations, positioning of pronouns and superlatives. The course covers the usage of the perfect tenses, the imperfect and future tenses. Other grammar points are the conditional, present and past tenses as well as the introduction of hypothetical sentences.

Level 4 The intermediate level is a course for those with an already good
knowledge of Italian or after completion of level 3
Grammar: The grammar points of level 3 will be intensified along with the present, imperfect, real, unreal, potential, conditional sentences, the pronouns ci-and ne-,relative pronouns-relative pronouns conjunctions and connecting words.

Level 5 The advance level requires very good knowledge and fluency
in Italian or the completion of level 4
Grammar: Grammar points from 4 are reinforced in this course. Furthermore, rhetorical abilities the sequence of tenses, the perfect tense, indirect speech, questions formation and the passive form are solidified.
